This is the last year of the “core” and David Glass is getting old and this likely is his last chance for another championship.

The team will make the effort to go deep in ’17 until the trade deadline. If they look out of it, as was suggested this year, then there’s probably a fire sale, a Billy Beane-esque dump of short termers for hauls of hot AA arms. If they’re still in then they probably dump young talent for a two-month boost like in ’15.
