Hi Clint,

I checked out the YouTube videos of Seuly Matias, Khahil Lee, and Marten Gasparini. My amateur eyes believes all 3 can be major leaguers. Seuly Matias has gotten really thick for an 18 year old, but his RH bat is special. I hope he conditions and watches his diet and becomes a power corner OF. Khahil seems to me like a Jarrod Dyson type body, really lean, muscular, and like a gazelle. It seems he can play some amazing defense in CF. His bat is not as special as Matias right now, but he will be an avg to above average ML bat in CF with good defense.

For Gasparini, I hope he develops his abilities because he seems to have his head on his shoulders and quite mature for a 19 yo kid. And when he gets his offense skills together, he is special. He is an incredible athlete, like you said, who would be perfect in CF.

A future OF of Gasparini, Lee, and Matias seems a good possibility (40% probability). I can see Gasparini develop in 4 years and come up as an utility 24-25 year old, like Paulo Orlando, who needed some time to develop.

Thanks again for your analysis, it's great. I hope some of these lower level guys become league average to above average Royals. Even someone like Guzman who doesn't have the elite tools like Matias, but he is so smooth when he plays.

Thank you for the comment. A couple things on Gasparini and Aracena as the international prospects are pretty different players despite playing the same position. The tools are real for Gasparini still but his hands aren't great which for a SS I think they need to be. A move to CF would be the best thing for him IMO as it could allow him to use his ridiculous speed and solid arm while playing a premier defensive spot. The bat flashes power but the contact ability is a struggle which isn't a surprise for a European player, especially one that has missed some time with injuries. It's going to be a slow burn at the dish but we need to see some strides being made this year and next to become a big prospect but at least there are tools to work with.

As for Aracena the tools aren't quite what they were thought to be. He was compared to Furcal at the time of the signing but the speed isn't similar and the hit tool was a bit overplayed. What I saw last year was a player that needs to move over to the other side of the bag and isn't a big impact at the plate. That's what left him off the list for me.

Clint,

What a great read. Thanks for highlighting prospects that don't get much analysis. I want to ask you 2 guys that received much hype when they were signed, but are long term development prospects. What's your thought on Marten Gasparini and Ricky Aracena?

Thanks.
