The only strategy I can think of is they intend to allow Cain to walk. However, considering the way Davis is throwing in Chicago, the trade seems a waste. Adding to KC’s woes is the fact that Hosmer doesn’t seem capable of carrying a club offensively. Defensively, they don’t seem as strong this season … and Soria is back to his pattern of giving up late leads.

This team looks terrible right now … and I can’t see that they have the potential to play winning baseball the rest of the season. Yes, they’ll have stretches of excellent play, but overall, this team is much, much weaker than I thought.
