And BTW, good Friday Notes this week. Covered a lot of bases. Sure there will be a lot more to write about in coming weeks as Dayton goes into full wheeling and dealing mode.
Just today, Royals lost Mike Morin to waivers after just signing him to contract earlier this week. And they are not even at 40 on the roster yet. What was all that about???

I understand Peralta is considered low risk but still think KC is better opening the bullpen competition to farm system and see who shines. Saves $1M in 2018 when budget is a hot topic.
My numbers matched yours on salary. I estimate ~$118M and don't think Dayton is done signing FAs. I believe they deal Herrera and maybe Soria (eat half his salary) to clear room.
Another name on Rule 5 list that looked interesting is 1B Mike Ford with Yankees. He is blocked by Greg Bird and others but could be a steal to play 1st for KC and given back if fails.
As for as taking pitches, Whit was also up over 4 NP/PA in first two months but dropped as season went along. Would love to see the Royals more patient at the plate but don't think that will happen as long as Ned is at the helm.
