The Chasers lost to Memphis for the fourth game in a row and the second one in as many nights in extra innings. Starter Eric Skoglund put together one of his best starts at Triple-A. He worked seven innings, while tying a season high nine strikeouts and holding Memphis to four hits and a pair of runs.

The offense scored just two runs after being limited with runners in scoring position to just 1 for 8 and grounding into three double plays. Reliever Seth Maness took the loss after giving up three consecutive singles in the twelfth inning.

The Naturals offense was limited to just six hits in a loss to Midland. Starter Corey Ray took his tenth loss of the season after giving up four runs in 5.1 innings. Whether he struggled with his control or just wanted to avoid the hard hitting that he has been receiving of late, Ray struggled to throw strikes. He hit the zone with just 46 of 94 pitches while walking five hitters.

The only run was provided on Samie Duenez’s sixteenth home run of the season.

The Blue Rocks salvaged the final game versus the Down East Wood Ducks with a comeback win. Starter Scott Blewett navigated seven innings, allowing two runs (1 ER) on six hits and a pair of walks, while his defense committed errors behind him. The team as a whole made five errors on the night and amassed just three hits, but Down East’s only error in the game allowed Wilmington to tie the game 2-2 in the sixth.

The Wilmington pitching staff kept the Rangers affiliate off the board after the second inning while navigating around the sketchy defense. In the tenth, the Rocks walked the bases loaded before scoring three runs to blow the game open on the way to the win.

The Legends jumped out to a 4-0 lead as starter Gerson Garabito was tossing up zeros until he ran into his pitch count and had to leave at 4.2 innings. From that point, things didn’t go so well as the Legends offense went hitless from a third inning single by Khalil Lee until Lee hit another single in the ninth. Meanwhile, the Yankees affiliate scored seven runs off of Travis Eckert in the sixth inning to take hold of the game and eventually win.

The Royals offense ruined a solid start by Carlos Hernandez with a 1 for 7 effort with runners in scoring position. The 20-year-old pitcher tossed seven innings of one run ball with nine strikeouts, allowing just a seventh inning run on a balk call. After the Royals tied the game in the bottom of the seventh, the Yankees got after reliever Yerelmy Garcia for four runs to distance themselves in the game.

Outfielder Seuly Matias slump continued with an 0 for 4 game with three strikeouts. The power prospect is now 3 for his last 43 with 21 strikeouts.

The Royals received solid outings from four different pitchers to earn a win over the Padres. Starter Malcolm Van Buren allowed just a two-run home run in his four innings, striking out five before turning the game over to the relievers. Those three, Carter Hope (2 IP), Jackson Klein (1.2), and Michael Austin (1.1), worked scoreless relief to hold the lead.

The offense scored a pair of runs in the first on wild pitches and added a run in the second on an RBI single by Rafael Romero

The Royals lost in the bottom of the thirteenth inning when the Sox scored the game-winning run off a Braulio Nunez balk. The Royals squad lost four different leads in the game, including a two run lead in the bottom of the ninth and leads in both the twelfth and thirteenth innings. Starter Delvin Capellan only worked three innings, but in usual fashion didn’t allow a run, pushing his scoreless streak to 24 consecutive innings.

The Chasers bullpen quartet led the way in Papillion to another win. Former starter Brian Flynn kept the Giants Triple-A bats off tune for his 4.1 innings, as the lefty struck out seven against just one hit allowed. Third baseman Cheslor Cuthbert hit a two-run home run in the first frame to give Omaha all the runs they would need after relievers Seth Manness, Eric Stout, and Kevin McCarthy put nothing but zeroes on the board. Fortunately for the pitching staff, the Chasers offense put five more runs put on the board with Cam Gallagher contributing with a two-run single.

Outfielder Logan Moon continued his hot Triple-A hitting with a 3 for 4 night that included a double and a triple.

The Naturals Emilio Ogando got roughed up in his five innings, allowing eight hits including four that went for extra bases to take his eighth defeat at Double-A. The NW Arkansas offense was held scoreless by Springfield starter Chris Ellis in his seven innings and didn’t dent the board until the ninth when they scored three times, but ultimately came up short.

A pair of relievers that started their seasons in Lexington led the Rocks to a comeback win over Frederick. After Colin Rodgers gave up a pair of runs in the second and Wilmington answered with one on their side, reliever Walker Sheller took over and gave the offense time to work. The former Stetson pitcher worked 3.1 innings and gave up just two singles and a walk.

With Sheller tossing zeros on the board, shortstop Jeckkson Flores was helping out on the offensive side. He doubled and scored on a D.J. Burt single in the fifth before walking and scoring on a Nick Heath single in the seventh. From there, reliever Grant Gavin did the rest, working two perfect innings with four strikeouts to close the game and earn his eighth save between Lexington and Wilmington.

The Legends bats got rocking, and starter Garret Davila put together one of his best starts of the season, rolling to a win in Hickory. The lefty Davila spun six shutout innings, allowing just one hit and two walks earning nine groundouts along the way.

The Legends offense rewarded Davila with nine runs, eight of which came via three home runs. Infielder Gabe Cancel connected on his twelfth home run of the year to break the scoreless tie in the fourth. Just two hitters later, his second base partner John Brontsema doubled home Meibrys Viloria to push the Lexington lead to 3-0. An inning later Emmanuel Rivera hit his eleventh home run of the season to bring in Khalil Lee and Angelo Castellano. After reliever Ofreidy Gomez gave up a run, Marten Gasparini capped the game’s scoring with a three-run home run in the ninth.

The home run for Cancel was his seventh of the second half, pushing his line to .356/.400/.701 in the 22 games he’s played since the break.

The Chukars received perhaps their best team pitching performance of the season with three pitchers combining for 10 innings of one run baseball. Starter Dillon Drabble got it started by tossing five shutout innings in just his second Pioneer League start, striking out three and working around five hits and a walk. The Chukars gave him a lead in the sixth inning when Travis Jones drove in Matt Morales after his leadoff double.

That lead held up until the eighth when Geoffrey Bramblett gave up a run after working two scoreless innings. The Alabama product would work another inning without allowing anything which would allow the Chukars offense to bust things up in extras. In the tenth, an error by Great Falls allowed Idaho Falls to take the lead but the Chukars didn’t stop there. Two hits and a sac fly put three more runs on the board before Logan Gray doubled in two more to push the score to eventual final 7-1 tally.

Royals third round pick Dan Tillo picked up his first professional win by tossing five shutout innings on 65 pitches for Burlington. The left-handed starter only struck out two hitters against three singles and a walk, but he kept balls on the infield with eight groundouts.

Infielder Jeison Guzman got a pair of hits and scored twice to lead the offense, while the bottom three hitters in the lineup drove in three of the four Royals runs in the win.

The Royals lost their fourth game in a row despite Malcolm Van Buren tossing his high inning total for the season. The right-handed former N.C. State commit worked 4.2 innings while allowing three runs on three hits and three walks. While those numbers aren’t all that impressive, Van Buren did strikeout a season-high six hitters.

The game was tied at three into the eighth inning, but a two-run home run by Marcus Chiu off Royals reliever Randy Acevedo put the game out of reach.

The Superman kept his outstanding season going, working five more scoreless innings on Thursday. This pushed Delvin Capellan’s scoreless streak to 22 innings which top the 20 inning streak he had to start his season. The righty struck out five hitters, allowed just his second walk of the season and worked around a pair of defensive errors. The offense took a fifth inning lead but the bullpen couldn’t hold it, allowing three runs in the seventh to fall to the A’s again.

The Chasers built a big lead during their Tuesday afternoon contest and then had to hang on late for the win.

Starting pitcher Yender Caramo tossed six innings of efficient shutout baseball on just 60 pitches before tweaking his shoulder on the second pitch of the seventh inning. With a 7-0 lead at the time, it seemed as if the Chasers would cruise to a victory only to watch the bullpen struggle and end up in a dog fight. Reliever Christian Binford walked four of the five hitters he faced allowing three runs before yielding to Seth Manness who gave up five hits and three runs of his own. With their lead wavering at 8-6, the Chasers turned to reliable reliever Eric Stout to close the door, getting a four out save for his first Triple-A save.

The offense was keyed by a pair of two run home runs from Ryan O’Hearn and Logan Moon. Those hitters were on base multiple times each, accounting for seven of the nine runs scored in the game for Omaha.

The struggles to Josh Staumont’s season continued in this game versus Springfield. He threw just 38 strikes on 81 pitches in this one for Staumont who walked five hitters in just four innings while allowing five runs on seven hits. After three innings of shutout ball from Zach Lovvorn helped NW Arkansas claw within a couple runs, reliever Yunior Marte was roughed up for three runs on a pair of home runs to put the game out of reach.

A pair of hitters moved up from Wilmington had good nights at the plate with Nicky Lopez collecting three hits and Anderson Miller connecting on a double and a home run.

Boxscore Link

The Rocks Scott Blewett kept them in the game despite less than his best stuff, working around three first inning runs and nine hits to limit the damage against to four runs in seven innings. This gave the lineup some time to pull within a couple runs but an 0 for 8 night with runners in scoring position and reliever Walker Sheller’s three runs allowed ultimately blew the game for Wilmington.

For a team that has struggled to pitch, Holden Capps has been a welcome addition. The lefty worked another scoreless outing, tossing five innings while striking out four hitters. The offense backed Capps up with three runs in the third inning, two coming on an Amalani Fukofuka triple before he scored on a wild pitch. After a run in the fifth another triple, this one from Robby Rinn plated two more to put the game well out of reach.

The Royals two pitchers were knocked around for 11 hits and six runs while the offense was limited to just six hits. Catcher Sebastian Rivero had two hits at the plate while driving in a pair of runs. The 18-year-old is doing a decent job of holding his own at the plate hitting .263/.305/.408 with a pair of home runs.

The Royals 3rd round pick, Dan Tillo, took the hill again on Tuesday for the Arizona League squad, tossing three innings with one run allowed. The lefty worked two scoreless innings before a one out triple and infield single plated a run in the third inning. An Isaiah Smith double plated Mauricio Ramos and Esteury Ruiz in the fourth to give the Royals a one run lead that they would not relinquish.

Royals Latin lefty Andres Sotillet struggled in Idaho Falls but has performed well in Arizona, working five and two-thirds innings on this night while allowing two runs and striking out nine to earn the win.

The Sky Sox have the Chasers number so far this season, defeating them on Wednesday for the seventh time in eight games.

Struggling starter Josh Staumont had his best start in some time, working 5.2 innings and allowing two runs (1 ER). The erratic pitcher walked four and uncorked a wild pitch to push a runner into scoring position for the earned run allowed.

Other than Dean Anna’s three hits, the Chasers offense struggled in the good run environment, scoring just one run and recording six hits total in the game. Reliever Eric Stout gave up two runs after walking three and allowing a pair of hits.

After a pair of promotions, the Wilmington bullpen is slightly weaker which may have played a hand in their loss Wednesday night.

Reliever Luis Rico struggled, giving up six runs in his 2.2 innings pushing the Rocks behind each time they pulled even or close.

New leadoff man D.J. Burt had a pair of hits, a walk, stole his 22nd base of the season, and scored a run.

The Legends came up on the downside of an evenly played game Wednesday afternoon.

Each team had 11 hits and a pair of errors, with the Legends connecting on the game’s only home run but coming up one hit shy to the Mets Low-A club with runners in scoring position. The Legends trailed 5-4 after a two-run single in the seventh inning but failed to get hits in both the seventh and eighth frame with the tying run in scoring position.

Lexington’s Marten Gasparini continues to turn around his season with three more hits, pushing his overall average to .242 after his .191 April.

The Chukars evened the series up with Grand Junction in a rather sloppy game.

Each team committed three errors which led to multiple unearned runs for both squads. The Chukars trailing 4-3 got three unearned runs in the seventh to take the lead, and Christopher Marte tossed 5.1 innings scoreless to earn the win.

The Royals came up short in their first game against the Braves.

Starter Nathan Webb gave the team a quality start with six innings of three-run ball, but took the loss with too little offensive contribution in support. The right-handed starter tossed three innings scoreless before getting touched for a two-run home run in the fourth.

The Royals came up a run short going 1 for 6 with runners in scoring position to drop to 2-4 on the young season.

The Royals got out to an early lead and hung on late.

The Surprise squad quickly put three runs on the board in the first inning, getting an RBI triple from Reymond Lopez, a sac fly by Nick Pratto and an RBI single from Cristian Perez.

Their starter, Josh Mitchell, worked three scoreless innings, striking out three in his second appearance. The offense tacked on four single tallies the rest of the way which helped work around the five unearned runs their defense gifted the Padres.

Catcher MJ Melendez had a big day, going 2 for 5 with his first home run while also tossing out two potential base stealers from behind the dish.

The DSL Royals ace, Delvin Capellan, gave up his first earned run of the season in 20 innings, but it didn’t prevent a Royals win.

The two teams exchanged home runs in the first inning, but the Royals homer came with two aboard off the bat of Ismaldo Rodriguez to give them a 3-1 lead. From there, Capellan tossed four scoreless innings to earn his second win of the season, striking out four in the start before the bullpen shut the door.

For the second night in a row, the Chasers offense thumped their way to a win over the Dodgers Triple-A affiliate.
