The Chasers pitching staff was unable to make three home runs stand up in another home loss. Home runs by Hunter Dozier, Dusty Coleman and Parker Morin weren’t enough as Kris Medlen, Christian Binford, Brooks Pounders and Malcom Culver gave up eight runs on the hill. The starter, Medlen, gave up three runs and a home run in his first rehab appearance back with Omaha in just 1.2 innings. After Medlen left Binford walked four and gave up five hits, but navigated around it to give up just two runs. The game was tied heading to the ninth inning when reliever Malcom Culver gave up a two run double to Jaycob Brugman to give Nashville the lead and the eventual win.

The Naturals received an outstanding start and got some pop from the top of the lineup for a Saturday win. Fill in starter Yender Caramo continues to shine with his opportunity to start at Double-A putting up eight shutout innings in this one. Both teams were scoreless through the first five innings with San Antonio starter Dinelson Lamet matching Caramo until the sixth. In that sixth inning leadoff man Corey Toups took Lamet deep for his tenth home run of the season. In the seventh the Naturals would push that lead to 4-0 with a bunt rbi by Terrance Gore, an rbi double by Alfredo Escalera and a sac fly by Frank Schwindel that scored Toups. Those runs were plenty for Caramo and the bullpen that would allow two runs in the ninth.

Outfielder Brandon Downes did plenty of damage early and the pitching staff carried them to another win. With two on and one out in the first inning Downes connected on a triple to push Wilmington up 2-0. Two innings later it was Downes walking with two outs, stealing second and scoring on a single by Elier Hernandez single to push the lead to 3-0. From there the pitching staff would take over as Matt Tenuta would allow just a run in the fifth in his 5.1 innings prior to turning things to the bullpen. Righty Jacob Bodner would spin 1.2 innings of perfect ball before turning things to Luis Rico in the eighth. The lefty would allow a solo home run in the ninth, but finish things off for the save. The win pushed the Rocks winnings streak to six games while also giving them a shot at sweeping consecutive series with a win on Sunday.

The Chukars exploded for 14 hits and 13 runs in a convincing win over Grand Junction Saturday night. All nine Chukars reached base as the team put up four multi-run innings to back Arnaldo Hernandez in the win. Third baseman Manny Olloque paced the offense with four hits including a pair of doubles while scoring two runs and driving in another two for Idaho Falls. The win came at the expense of local boy Riley Pint as the Chukars plated five runs (4 ER) courtesy of five free passes and three hits from Pint who dropped to 0-5 on the season.

The Royals snapped their four game losing streak Saturday to keep a half game up in the divisional race. Starter Ofreidy Gomez gave them five innings of shutout baseball while allowing just one hit as he put away four hitters via strikeout. The Royals had given Gomez an early 3-0 lead with a run in the first on a Chris DeVito single and a throwing error and a two run single from Jose Sachez in the second inning. After Justin Camp had allowed a run in the sixth the Royals quickly got it back on Gabriel Cancel’s rbi double. The four runs would be plenty as the bullpen limited the Twins to just one more run.

The Royals pushed their winning streak to five games with another win over the A’s. With the game tied at 1-1 in the seventh inning Esteury Ruiz singled to plate two runs and give the Royals a two run lead. An RBI single from Cristian Perez an inning later would give the Royals their eventual winning margin at 4-1.

It wasn’t as nice of a second Triple-A start for Jake Junis on Monday as the River Cats got after him early. In the first inning a leadoff Gorky Hernandez double lead to the game’s first run. An inning later, Sacramento kept the pressure on with a walk and three more hits that pushed their lead 3-0. After it appeared Junis had corrected the ship, Sacramento got things going once again in the fifth inning when a pair of hit by pitches were sandwiched around three singles to tag Junis with two more runs allowed in his last inning of work. The Chasers would twice get within a run on the night, but couldn’t close the gap the entire way in the loss.

A pair of Blue Rocks bats combined with solid pitching for a win versus Potomac. First baseman Samir Duenez and centerfielder Cody Jones combined for eight hits and five of the seven runs in. It was Duenez with four RBI in his first three at bats including his 13th home run of the season. These runs benefited lefty Matt Tenuta who won his third decision in a row with 6.2 quality innings while allowing just two runs on four hits allowed in the win.

The Idaho Falls pitching staff were knocked around in a game that got ugly for the home team Monday. It was the bullpen that took the brunt of the damage as starter Andre Machado gave up just one run in his five innings of work. From there Drew Milligan and Jason Freeman gave up 11 runs in 3.2 innings to turn a Chukars 2-1 lead into a 12-5 defeat. Catcher Meibrys Viloria has seen his hot season cool a tad with hitless games in three of his last four starts.

The Royals offense struggled to get things going while a run off the bullpen cost them a game. A pair of throwing errors in the sixth lead to a tie game for Burlington, but reliever Jesse Camp allowed a one-out double that scored a Braves run just one inning later. Just one more baserunner the rest of the game prevented Burlington from tying the game.
