Lexington Logo3Lexington Legends 4 Columbia Fireflies 0

The Legends received outstanding pitching and a pair of two run bombs to at least secure their first series split of the year. The Royals 2016 4th round pick Jace Vines tossed his first career quality start in this one, working six innings shutout ball while spreading out three hits. The 6’3 righty was able to create seven groundball outs before yielding to piggybacker Garrett Davila who finished off the shutout.

The Legends received a first inning two run home run by Chris DeVito and a two run dinger by Khalil Lee one inning later to provide all the needed offense.

New Orleans Baby Cakes 6 Omaha Storm Chasers 0

The Chasers couldn’t get any offense going in their first game in the Big Easy of the year. Going 0 for 6 with runners in scoring position plus a rough night by the bullpen made a loser of starter Eric Skoglund despite just allowing one unearned run in four and one-third innings. The lefty had to grind, tossing 86 pitches in that time with four hits and a pair of walks allowed in that time.

Hard throwing Josh Staumont will start on Sunday.
