Omaha Storm Chasers 6 Nashville Sounds 4

Things got heated between the Chasers and Sounds during Sunday’s game which may have revved up Omaha towards a victory. Heading into the game the Chasers had fallen into last place but following words between Christian Colon and Nashville’s Daniel Mengden after the pitcher hit Colon the Chasers took advantage of the less than focused hurler. Jorge Bonifacio took Mengden out of the park as the next hitter following the Colon hit by pitch on an opposite field home run to spot Omaha a 2-0 lead in the 5th. The Chasers offense would keep things going the very next inning, scoring four runs with a Colon bases loaded double clearing the bases. Reliever Andrew Edwards would struggle to get through the 9th, allowing three runs before getting out of the jam and ending the game.

Corpus Christi Hooks 3 NW Arkansas Naturals 2

The Hooks took the rubber match of their three game series with the Naturals. Both teams struggled to cash in with plenty of baserunners, stranding 18 combined and each able to just get two hits apiece with runners in scoring position. Starter Ashton Goudeau gave up all three NW Arkansas runs during the game to drop to 1-2 at Double-A. The Royals appear to be building Pedro Fernandez back up after missing nearly two weeks, working 3.2 scoreless innings in this one while allowing just one hit, one walk and striking out four in that time. The Naturals struck out 11 times in the game to contribute to the scoring problem during the afternoon game.

Suspended Saturday Game

Winston-Salem Dash 4 Wilmington Blue Rocks 0

In game two the Dash scored four quick runs in the first inning before both teams went silent and gave Winston-Salem a win. The Rocks were unable to get things going versus starter Spencer Adams, allowing him to toss a complete game to earn his 6th win in nine decisions this season. An 0-2 with runners in scoring position shows how little the Rocks were able to put together during the game.
