NW Arkansas Naturals 6 Midland RockHounds 3

The Naturals built a 6-1 lead and ended a Midland rally late to snap their seven game losing streak to the RockHounds. NW Arkansas manufactured a run on a Raul Mondesi sac fly to tie the game up in the third inning before a three run fifth and some rain lead them to a lead that may have ended the game. In that frame Mondesi scored a run on a bunt single, stole his 19th bag of the season and would come across on a two run single by Frank Schwindel. After a bit of a rain delay NW Arkansas would add to their lead with a Carlos Garcia RBI single and a Schwindel sac fly. Those runs would come in handy as Midland attempted a comeback quickly scoring a pair in the ninth before Eric Stout would calm the RockHound bats.

Potomac Nationals 8 Wilmington Blue Rocks 1

Foster Griffin couldn’t get through the lineup during his second and third trips through, giving up seven runs on the way to another loss. The lefty having given up just one hit through three innings gave up three runs in the fourth on three hits and a walk. The next inning was more of the same with the Nationals collecting three hits and a home run before the lefty would get pulled from the game. While Foster was getting worked around, Nationals pitchers were cruising following a run allowed in the first inning, allowing just three hits during the game to cruise to a win.

Greenville Drive 11 Lexington Legends 6

Another rough start for Nolan Watson snapped the Legends four game win streak. Watson worked just two and one-third innings, surrendering five hits and four walks to yield six runs and put the Legends in a 6-1 hole through three innings. Two more runs pushed the lead to 8-1 before the Legends woke up with a run in the fourth and three more in the fifth courtesy of Anderson Miller’s only hit in the game and a run scored. Lexington would get no closer than the three run deficit however as Greenville would drive in three more runs off reliever Mark McCoy to put the game out of reach.

Ogden Raptors 5 Idaho Falls Chukars 4

For a second night in a row the Ogden pitching staff did a good job of slowing down the Chukars offense, limiting them to just five hits. A three run sixth for Idaho Falls and a run in the ninth fell one short after 2016 draftpick Jace Vines had given up five runs in the first four innings. Idaho Falls got the tying run on base in the ninth but a groundout by Meibrys Viloria ended the game.
