Springfield Cardinals 5 NW Arkansas Naturals 4

Starter Jake Junis was rolling Friday until hitting a fifth inning bump in the road that ruined he and the Naturals night. The right-handed starter gave up a run in the second inning when Logan Moon took a circuitous route to a fly ball that turned into a one out triple and 1-0 Springfield lead following an rbi single. The Naturals quickly tied the game and took the lead in the next two innings, scoring three times with Frank Schwindel doubling and scoring after a Alfredo Escalera double. That lead would stand up only until the fifth inning when Junis would load the bases after giving up a single and a one out walk and single. With the bases loaded and facing Jacob Wilson Junis would get ahead in the count 1-2 but just two pitches later a 2-2 pitch would get too much of the plate and Wilson would connect on his first Double-A home run of the season to give Springfield a 5-3 lead. Schwindel would bring the Naturals one run closer with a solo home run in the sixth, but the offense could get no closer in the final three innings.

Burlington Royals 11 Pulaski Yankees 0

Royals Cristian Castillo spun an absolute gem Friday night versus the Pulaski Yankees. The lefty allowed just a first inning single to 1st round pick Blake Rutherford before getting into a groove that found him put away 21 hitters in a row until he yielded a ninth inning walk. That walk didn’t deter him however as he quickly put away the next two hitters, finishing the last hitter of the night with his 11th strikeout on the evening. It wasn’t all Castillo on this evening as the Royals offense punched three multiple run innings across including a six run fifth inning.
