Processing (BP Kansas City Episode 72)

The Royals will not go to the postseason. In a week, there will be no more games for Eric Hosmer, Lorenzo Cain, Mike Moustakas, Alcides Escobar, and Jason Vargas as teammates.

We took a look at this season, what’s left, and the legacy of this Royals run, Dayton Moore, David Glass, and Ned Yost.

Bye Bye Balboni (BP Kansas City Episode 71)

Finally.

After nearly three weeks of being stuck at #36, Mike Moustakas did the impossible, dethroning Steve Balboni as the Royals single-season home run record holder. On Wednesday night, just as we started recording, Moose hit home run #37 to set a new Royals record and we were excited.

We discussed the significance of the record, what else to track with Moose the rest of the season (do I hear 40?), and the relief that it has finally been broken.

And Danny Duffy returned from the disabled list with a strong start at Cleveland. We talked about what to look at in the last week and a half of the season regarding Duffy and the rest of the rotation.

We also covered Alex Gordon’s strong September and hoped that it means good things for 2018 and 2019.

Finally, we talked about Mike Minor’s season and what the Royals should try to do to retain him this winter.

Ugly Numbers and Call-ups (BP Kansas City Episode 70)

Last week was very bad, but this week was…not *as* bad!

The Royals suffered some ugly, ugly blowouts, and it seems like Jake Junis and Scott Alexander are the only pitchers doing well who are healthy right now. That’s not ideal.

And yet, the Royals are still hanging around in the wild card race. They need a blistering hot final 24 games of the year to do it, but it’s not impossible.

Also, Mike Moustakas tied Balboni. We’re still waiting for #37…

That Week Was Not Nice (BP Kansas City Episode 69)

http://www.blogtalkradio.com/kansascitybaseballvault/2017/08/31/that-week-was-not-nice-bp-kansas-city-episode-69.mp3 That was…not a good week. The Royals got crushed by Cleveland and also went through an epic (and almost historic) scoring drought. And then Danny Duffy got into trouble. So, we try to pick up the pieces this week. We discuss Duffy’s DUI and how we’re processing it. We discuss the futility of the […]

Injuries and Bullpen Shakeups (BP Kansas City Episode 68)

http://www.blogtalkradio.com/kansascitybaseballvault/2017/08/24/injuries-and-bullpen-shakeups-bp-kansas-city-episode-68.mp3 The Royals didn’t take advantage of a matchup with Cleveland but they haven’t really lost ground on the teams in the wild card race. Despite injuries, their September schedule will give them a shot at the playoffs, but they’re going to have to take charge themselves, rather than expect the league to help them […]

Stayin’ Alive (BP Kansas City Episode 67)

http://www.blogtalkradio.com/kansascitybaseballvault/2017/08/17/stayin-alive-bp-kansas-city-episode-67.mp3 The Royals haven’t played very well in August, but they’re hanging on. Despite their struggles, they’re still in view of a path to the playoffs and the next two weeks will shape their destiny. With half their games against Cleveland and a series against Wild Card contender Tampa Bay, the Royals will have a […]

Mood Swings (BP Kansas City Episode 66)

http://www.blogtalkradio.com/kansascitybaseballvault/2017/08/10/mood-swings-bp-kansas-city-episode-66.mp3 The Royals have been on the Royalcoaster in the second half and while they’re still in the playoff hunt, there’s a lot going on to toy with all of our emotions. We got caught up and discussed the two trades the Royals made to bulk up their roster, as well as the other roster […]

Buy or Sell? (BP Kansas City Episode 65)

http://www.blogtalkradio.com/kansascitybaseballvault/2017/07/20/buy-or-sell-bp-kansas-city-episode-65.mp3 The Royals have opened the second half in a pretty poor way, but they’re still a good week from jumping ahead of Cleveland. Still, with the way things go, should they sell? Should they buy? We look at the recent trade deadline deals to try to decipher what the Royals might expect if they […]

Reviewing First Half Predictions (BP Kansas City Episode 64)
