Friday Notes
While some may still consider the Royals a cheap franchise, it’s been remarkable to see the number of players signed to long-term deals since the Dayton Moore era began. David DeJesus, Joakim Soria, Billy Butler, Zack Greinke, Alex Gordon, Alcides Escobar, Salvador Perez, Yordano Ventura and now Danny Duffy have all signed deals designed to […]
2017 Royals are a Team of Possibilities
The saying goes that baseball is a game of inches. Because of that, there’s always going to be a lot of variance in the game. Hit the ball two feet to the right and the double play is a run-scoring single. Strike the ball two inches farther down the barrel of the bat and it’s […]
Royals Sign Danny Duffy to Five-Year Extension
According to Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports and confirmed by the organization, the Kansas City Royals have reached an agreement on a contract extension with Danny Duffy. The deal is reportedly worth five years and $65 million. The lefty was scheduled to become a free agent for the first time following the 2017 season, and […]

This time of year might be the most interesting of the offseason because while so many free agents have found homes, there are now legitimate big league players who don’t know where they’re going in a few weeks for spring training. We’re not quite there yet, but some semblance of panic will set in soon […]
Patience Might Just be a Virtue for the Royals
On base percentage has been a touchy subject for the Royals because they typically don’t have a very good one. When they do, it’s because they got a lot of hits, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it’s not the most sustainable thing. An inning with five runs on eight hits sequenced perfectly is […]
Evaluating the Royals Needs Now
On Friday, the Royals took a big step toward solidifying what the team would look like to open the 2017 season when they traded Jarrod Dyson to the Mariners for starting pitcher Nate Karns. Feelings about the players remaining on the roster aside, that does alleviate some of the roster jam that the team had […]
Royals Trade Jarrod Dyson to Mariners for Nate Karns
In their second trade of the offseason the Royals dealt speedy outfielder Jarrod Dyson to the Seattle Mariners for starting pitcher Nate Karns, first reported by Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune. Dyson was drafted in the 50th round (a round that no longer even exists) in 2006 and has been with the organization his entire […]
Friday Notes
Another week with very little news has made the natives a little restless. At least that’s how it seems. The Royals did make a small trade this week to add some power to the organization. Craig broke that down yesterday, so give that a read. I have to think/hope that we’re going to see some […]
The Year After The Year After
Over the course of a sometimes trying 2016 season, a lot was made about the Royals postseason efforts the previous two years and how they may have been a bit worn down from all of that. And that certainly makes sense. Two straight seasons with 31 additional games, many of them far more pressure packed […]
