Alex Gordon World Series Home Run

Welcome to BP Kansas City

Kansas City is the center of the baseball universe.

Had you said that to me 24 months ago, I would have requested you submit to a drug test. Now? Back to back American League pennants, dominating the ballot box for the All-Star Game, setting attendance records and, oh yeah, a World Championship means that the Royals (the Royals!) are the class of baseball.

I don’t know about you, but the last two years have been the best years of my baseball fandom. From the moment Salvador Perez caught the out that sent the Royals to the Wild Card game to Wade Davis getting medieval in Queens, it has been one wild ride.

If you’re reading this, I don’t need to be rehashing everything. Although I bet you don’t mind.

As the Royals have dug themselves from the depths of the AL, demand for quality content has only increased. Turns out people like to read about winning baseball teams. Even during the low seasons, the Royals have had a devoted online following although it’s been fractured between several quality sites. Today, we are bringing together Royals Authority along with Pine Tar Press to bring you the latest local iteration from Baseball Prospectus. To say we are excited about BP Kansas City would be an understatement.

If you’ve read either site before, you know about the passion we bring to our coverage. Nothing about that is going to change. If anything, with a full staff of talented writers, our coverage is going to expand. We will have the daily articles, analysis and insight you’ve come to expect. Along with coverage of the minor leagues, which continue to be of huge importance to the Royals, we will have daily game recaps from the big league squad. And we will podcast with the KC Baseball Vault. There will probably be a few surprises along the way.

Baseball Prospectus launched their first local sites early last season. They are expanding their footprint this year and we are humbled they asked us to bring you coverage of the Royals. Our goal is to make this site your number one destination for Royals news and analysis.

So bookmark this page. And don’t forget to follow us on Twitter and like us on Facebook.

We’re glad you’re here. Let’s play ball.
